RHH4L -Urban GEMS Garden Club After School

Now in our 3rd year, the Reaching Higher Heights 4-Life Garden Club meets after schools each Wednesday throughout the school year. Youth ages 10-17 are engaged in Aeroponic indoor gardening, outdoor raised-bed gardening, various culinary activities including food harvesting, washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, cooking, plating, and eating. Youth learn about nutrition, positive youth leadership skills, creative arts, story telling, and public health messaging. Parent and other community volunteers help direct the youth to complete project-based activities. A great emphasis is placed on supporting youth to do well in school and seek supportive resources to address any challenges or barriers.
